Hunting for Worms!

Last week we wrote a letter to the head gardener at KICS to ask if he could help us find some worms.

We suggested putting water on the grass to make the ground wet and soft.

We had learned that sometimes a lot of  rain makes the worms come up because it floods their tunnels

No worms came up so the gardener got a fork and started to dig!

We  found  lots  of small  worms.
We could see the 'band' on the body. It is a different colour. This is where they keep the eggs.

Worms love dark, cool and moist places to live. They don't have eyes and they don't like the light

We decided to take some worms and earth back to class. We are watching them closely!

We made a worm house with sand and earth but the worms did not seem to want to go down!
We'll find out tomorrow what happens....
